Career assignments: Captain Nita Sood was commissioned as a Pharmacy Officer into the U.S. Public Health Service in 2002. Since 2010, Captain Sood has been assigned to the Defense Health Agency (DHA). She currently serves as the DHA Liaison Officer to the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM). As the senior DHA representative, she is responsible for the coordination and delivery of critical DHA programs and activities to the Combatant Command. Prior to this assignment, Captain Sood served as the Chief of Staff for DHA Healthcare Operations, where she provided executive oversight for the policy, procedures, and direction healthcare administration in the military medical treatment facilities under the purview of DHA.
Captain Sood’s previous tours were at the Department of Health and Human Services, which included – Senior Advisor to the Office of Global Health at Health Resources and Services Administration, and Pharmacy Consultant to the Southeast Region for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Education: Captain Sood earned Doctor of Pharmacy, University of Georgia; Master of Public Health, Emory University; and Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Howard University. She is a graduate of Military Health System Capstone Symposium.
