On September 21, 2020, Steve Cooney, formerly Senior Vice President of BMO Insurance, assumed the position of Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Navy Mutual. Cooney is responsible for sales and marketing strategy and operations, which includes brand development, market research and analytics, distribution management, education services, and sales activation.

Steve will integrate flawlessly into our team with his knowledge of the industry and his commitment to providing excellent products and service. We are all happy to welcome him to his next chapter at Navy Mutual and look forward to watching both our marketing and sales departments continue to grow and thrive.”
Cooney comes to Navy Mutual with over 20 years of experience in life insurance, annuities, and business strategy. Most recently, he was responsible for designing, marketing, and distributing insurance and annuity products for BMO Insurance. Prior to that, he served as the Vice President of Annuity Business Development and Innovation for Nationwide Insurance, where he launched an industry-leading fixed indexed annuity. An accomplished business strategist, he has also led strategy functions for Nationwide Financial and Sun Life Financial. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from York University in Toronto, a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada, and an MBA from RSM/Erasmus University in the Netherlands.
