Each day as they make their way to Navy Mutual’s headquarters, Navy Mutual employees are privileged to pass along the edge of Arlington National Cemetery. The rows of identical headstones are a sobering reminder of the sacrifice our country’s servicemembers and families made for the freedoms Americans cherish.
On the morning of Saturday, December 14th, Navy Mutual staff, and families gathered to join thousands of volunteers to place a wreath on the headstone of the more 400,000 patriots who rest in Arlington. Respect, Honor, and Teach, the motto of the Wreaths Across America campaign, was clearly demonstrated by the many participants; some saying the names of the fallen or placing a coin on the headstone, others sharing stories of loved ones and relaying traditions of Arlington National Cemetery. It was an honor to take part in a unique event recognizing those who served our country and honor the sacrifice they and their families have made.
Arlington National Cemetery has grown since it’s founding in 1864 and continues to expand to provide for those who wished to be buried on these hallowed grounds. For more information on how you can be buried in Arlington National Cemetery visit their site.
