COVID-19 FAQs
Am I still covered by my existing policy if I contract COVID-19 or receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes. Navy Mutual does not have a coverage exclusion for COVID-19 vaccinations or COVID-19. All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the U.S. have been authorized by the FDA, are recommended by the CDC, and help prevent COVID-19. If you’re trying to decide whether or not to get vaccinated, we recommend discussing this with your doctor.
Can I apply for a life insurance policy with Navy Mutual if I have or have had COVID-19?
Yes, you can apply for life insurance if you have had COVID-19. However, you must wait for a period of time after full recovery before applying. The wait time depends on the severity of your illness:
- If your illness was mild and you did not require any inpatient therapy, you can apply four weeks after full recovery from any symptoms.
- If you required non-intensive inpatient therapy (no ventilator, etc.), you can apply four to six months after full recovery from any symptoms.
- If you required intensive inpatient therapy (ventilator, etc.), you can apply six months after full recovery from any symptoms.
