The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on the many blessings we have, and to take time to share with friends and family. At Navy Mutual, we have much for which to be thankful this year. We have continued our modest growth to better serve new generations of members and their families, and we are modernizing our systems and service to meet new expectations. Our continuing strong sales, solid investments and overall financial strength have enabled us to maintain our Permanent 'Plus' crediting rate and our low rate on policy loans. And, in the year ahead, many Flagship Whole Life policyholders will begin to see their dividends distributed in accordance with their preferences.
In 2018, members can also expect to see enhancements to our member website or "Customer Portal." We are also launching a new education app that will enable servicemembers to easily access our calculators and other information during our education presentations on base. The app will also help them make the complex decisions they face, such as whether to enroll in the Survivor Benefit Plan at retirement and, for those with less than 12 years of active service, whether to "opt in" to the new Defense Department Blended Retirement System.
One thing that will not change as we move forward is our commitment to excellence. From customer service to educating those who serve to caring for beneficiaries, Navy Mutual will continue to put you first in everything we do. That was our commitment to you when you joined this association, and it has been the hallmark of our efforts for almost 140 years. Our compass never waivers.
