Meet The Adamses, Our Next Military Makeover Family
Published on August 17, 2016
As part of Navy Mutual’s continuing sponsorship of Military Makeover on Lifetime®, three new episodes are airing this summer and fall. This series will focus on Lance Corporal Michael Adams and his family, as the Military Makeover team renovates their home.
Adams, who lives with his wife Britiany, and their two daughters, Nevaeh and Cecelia, was wounded while serving with the Marines in Iraq in 2005. A heavy equipment operator, his vehicle ran over a double-stack anti-tank mine, leaving Michael with numerous injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress.
Honorably discharged from the military in 2007 and now working as a certified motorcycle mechanic, Michael still struggles with his injuries. In 2015, he received a service dog, JW, from K9 for Warriors. JW wakes Michael from nightmares and helps keep him calm in crowded places. In September 2015, when Michael suffered a stroke, JW went for help, saving Michael's life. The family also works to manage the health challenges of three-year-old Cecelia, who has cerebral palsy and autism.
The modest home that Military Makeover's experts will tackle originally belonged to Britiany’s grandparents, who helped the young couple by offering it to them on a “rent-to-own” basis. Now, Military Makeover will give it the treatment it needs to become a life-long legacy for the Adamses.
By sponsoring Military Makeover, Navy Mutual hopes to shed more light on the importance of financial security for members of the military.
“Our mission at Navy Mutual is to help military members, retirees and their families plan for their financial futures,” says Navy Mutual President Bruce Engelhardt. “Whether their needs include our life insurance options or simply improved ‘financial intelligence,’ our goal is to serve them as they have served our Nation: with dignity and respect.”
Tune in or set your DVR for August 18 at 7:30 a.m. ET/PT on Lifetime® Television for Episode 1. Episodes 2 and 3 will air on September 1 and September 15 at the same hour.
