Stephen P. Metruck

Career assignments: Commanded Fifth Coast Guard District, with overall responsibility for Mid-Atlantic maritime safety and security missions. As Assistant Commandant for Resources and Chief Financial Officer, oversaw all Coast Guard financial management and resource activities. Operationally served in the Marine Safety, Security, and Environmental Protection mission areas, including multiple field assignments. Following 9/11, commanded Coast Guard Marine Safety Office San Diego, California; later assigned as Commander of Sector Seattle. Also served as Chief of Staff for the Eleventh Coast Guard District. Special assignments included Congressional Fellow to Senator John F. Kerry and Coast Guard Liaison to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. 

Education: B.S. in Ocean Engineering, U.S. Coast Guard Academy; Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government; Military Fellow, Center for Strategic and International Studies; Coast Guard Fellow, Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group. Decorations include Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Department of Transportation 9-11 Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and La Condecoracion a la Distincion Naval given by La Secretaria de Marina Armada de Mexico.
