Bruce B. Engelhardt

Rear Admiral Bruce B. Engelhardt has been the President and CEO of Navy Mutual Aid Association since 2005. He considers it an honor and privilege to guide this non-profit, A+ rated, Veteran’s Service Organization which was established in 1879 to provide financial products and security for sea service members and their families.

Rear Admiral Engelhardt served as a submarine officer for thirty-three years and commanded the fast attack submarine USS DRUM (SSN 677), Submarine Squadron 7 in Pearl Harbor HI, and Submarine Group 9 in Bangor Washington.

His other assignments include: Budget Officer (N82) Department of the Navy; Deputy Director, Submarine Warfare Division, Office of Chief of Naval Operations; Deputy Director for Resources and Requirements on the Joint Staff (J8); Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Engineering and Systems).

Rear Admiral Engelhardt graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. He received a Master of Science Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and has earned certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive Fellows program at Harvard University. He received the Navy Distinguished Service Medal (2 awards) in addition to other personal and unit awards.
