What's Your Real Age?

-Ginger Hayes, January 2010

We recently came across some interesting information about aging. Here is a synopsis of an article by Dr. Michael Roizen, published in Charles Schwab Summer 2009 magazine, conducting an interview on your “real age.”

“Real age is the actual age of your body. It’s the measure of the impact that your lifestyle and health issues have on your body.”

We may be 40 years old and still feel like an 18-year-old but, according to the doctor, three major life events in a single year could age you physiologically by as much as 32 years. This means that a 40-year-old person under stress could have the same risk of dying or becoming disabled as a 72 -year -old.

As a military member or family member of one who is in the service, you know that some of the most stressful events in a military life are deployment, marriage, buying a home, having children, getting promoted, transitioning out of the service, and retirement. We have developed detailed checklists and guidance to help you handle some of these life events. You will find guidance on how each event affects your financial position and, specifically, your need for life insurance.

We strive to provide you and your family with the support and service you need through all these stages of life. It is more important than ever to include financial security and stability in your family’s future.  Your life insurance plan needs to be capable of covering both your “actual age” and your “real age.”
